Investing sustainably and responsibly is an essential part of our business at SEB. We believe that companies who have an organised, long-term approach to sustainability issues increase their chance of succeeding and have the potential to deliver a profitable investment for our shareholders.
The UN Principles for Responsible Investment are the guidelines we follow in our sustainability work since we became a signatory in 2008.
One of our sustainability strategies is to have an effect on the companies in which we invest by maintaining a dialogue as well as work with other investors and make our voice heard by voting at annual general meetings. Additionally, our processes for responsible investment are supported by systematic screening of Swedish and international companies. We do not invest in companies whose business involves controversial weapons and/or nuclear weapons. Nor do we invest in listed companies that derive more than 20% of their turnover from the extraction of thermal coal.
